Q. Do I need to wear a crash helmet when I ride my Electric Bike?

Q. What servicing will my Electric Bike require?

Your Electric Bike does not generally need any servicing but we recommend that you have it serviced once a year at our fully fitted workshop.

Q. Will my Electric Bike need an MOT?

Your Electric bike does not need any form of MOT

Q. How long is the lifespan of my Electric Bike battery?

The battery life of your electric bike battery varies on how much you use it, but they normally last 2 - 2.5 years if charged everyday.

Q. Do I need insurance to ride my Electric Bike?

Insurance is not a legal requirement for your electric bike, but we recommend that you look into getting insurance, sometimes your electric bike will be covered on your home insurance we advise you check that first.

Q. Does my Electric Bike come with a warranty?

Your Electric Bike comes with a 12 month parts warranty which excludes expendable parts (tyres, brake pads and bulbs), it also excludes accidental damage. We have so much faith in our quality product that If your Electric Bike is within warranty but cannot be repaired within 5 days we will replace it for you.

Q. Do I need to register with the DVLA or get road tax?

You do not have to register your electric bike for tax as it does not need tax

Q. Is my Electric Bike road legal?

Yes, all of our electric bikes are full CE approved.

Q. How do I recharge my Electric Bike?

Your Electric Bike comes with a mains charger that simply plugs into any mains outlet. A quick charge takes around four hours and will fill the battery up to approximately 80% or a full charge will take 7 hours. There are some cities that are installing 'Park and Charge' points where you can as the name suggests park and charge your electric bike. It is advisable to charge your battery up once every 2 months when you are not using it.

Q. Do I get a warning when my battery needs recharging?

Your Electric Bike has a battery gauge. When the battery gauge reaches the red light your battery is starting to get low and you have about 8 miles left on a 10AH battery

Q. How much will it cost to charge my Electric Bike?

A full re-charge will cost approximately 11 pence from a standard mains socket. This is because electricity is charged in kWh (Kilo-Watt-Hours), your electric bike uses less than 1kWh to fully charge the battery.

Q. On the top of the battery there is the following:-

Can you tell me what this is for as the manual does not explain.

On some of our electric bikes there is no battery level display on the handlebars as they will not have the low, medium and high settings. The batteries are designed for bikes that are supplied all over the world so the factory supply them with a power level indicator actually on the battery.

Q. The manual says that the rear light is kept separate from the main power supply and needs AA batteries. However, mine seems to work from the main battery with the front lamp when I press the button on the handlebar, so is the manual wrong or is mine a newer model?

The latest stock of bikes have a hard wired rear light so yes you have a newer model, unfortunately we have not yet changed the handbook to reflact this.

There is no mention in the manual of how you unlock the battery to take it out.

Push the key a bit further in and then turn it to unlock the battery.

Q. Does the Litium Ion battery need fully discharging before re-charging each time? .

For the first three charges you run it down and fully charge it, this is purely to condition the battery and after this you are able to charge at any point. You will have seen the red and green light on the charger, the green light tells you that the battery is fully charged, the charger will not allow the battery to over charge.
